I need help with fees. How can I apply for a scholarship or payment plan?

One of our core values is and always has been accessibility, we believe that this new way of working (hybrid!) should be available to everybody. With that in mind, we have two scholarship spaces available so if you are out there and would like to take the course, all you need to do is send a motivational letter to hey@mischiefmakers.co

To make the course fee more accessible, we offer to set up a payment plan, which splits the total amount into smaller instalments. You can choose to split those over a max. of found months. Please contact us to set things up.

What is the STAP-funding?

The STAP budget is an education support fund that helps pay fees, courses and training sessions. You can get up to €1000,- each year via the STAP budget.

You can apply for the STAP budget once a year. A new application period starts every 2 months. If funds have run out for a particular application period, you can re-apply in the following period.

Each time more funding is released, it’s allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Demand is high, so you need to be quick! This is why it’s key that you register with us and finalise your application in the STAP portal as soon as you can when your funding window opens.

Am I eligible to receive STAP-funding?

The government makes the final call on eligibility. They officially state that you’re eligible if:

  1. You’re between 18 and 67 years old

  2. You’ve earned Dutch income for at least 6 months in the last 2 years

However, even if you don’t seem to meet these requirements, it’s worth double-checking! Log in at https://www.stapuwv.nl/login and click on “Vraag STAP-budget aan” to see if you’re eligible.

How do I get the STAP-funding?

To request funding for a course through the STAP program at UWV, you need to pre-register with Mischief Makers and obtain a registration certificate ("aanmeldbewijs").

A new STAP budget is released every 2 months. Make sure to mark the next date in your calendar and register for the course beforehand.

Have your aanmeldbewijs ready to take the following steps and claim your funding:

You'll be using DigiD; be patient if there is a wait time and don't navigate away from the page to keep your spot in the queue.

  2. Upload your STAP aanmeldbewijs
We email this to you when you register for the course.

  3. Fill in your student ID number
This is listed on your aanmeldbewijs.

  4. Confirm the course

  5. Complete the student background survey.

  6. Submit your application.

  7. Wait for the UWV's response.
You'll receive a confirmation email from STAP if your application has been successfully sent. They'll take up to 4 weeks to make a decision on your application. If approved, the government will transfer payment to STAP and they will convert your approval into enrolment on the course.

If you encounter any issues, contact STAP for assistance. Please note that approved budget requests are paid directly to the course trainer before the course begins.

Good luck with your application!

Do I need any previous experience?

Not necessarily. If you're new to the game but you've got a knack for it our door is open! However, this course is for people with an aptitude and passion for facilitation so previous experience is a plus (also, as a reference point for content within the course).

How can I mess this up?

By not applying for this course.

Once again though, what do you mean by facilitation?

The dry definition: "Facilitation is a process that trainers, team builders, meeting leaders, managers and communicators use to add content, process and structure to meet the needs of an individual, group or team. In an overall description, facilitation is used to help a group of people to achieve their goal, their reason for holding the meeting."
The Mischief definition: "Empowering."
